WAKEFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS – This summer, there will be an additional reason for you to get outside with your family & friends, as Wakefield pilots a Park of the Month program. The Town has a plethora of parks & playgrounds and is showcasing two of the lesser known parks in July & August. Visiting a park is great for your body, your mind and your overall health.
This July, visit Mapleway Park (Off of Oak St.) between dawn and dusk. Amenities include: playground equipment/swings, a fenced in tot lot, some shady areas and trees, sports fields, benches, and more. You can walk or bike there, or car parking is right in front of the park. In August, visit JJ Round Park (Main St. and Charles St.) between dawn and dusk. Amenities include: basketball courts, sports fields, playground equipment, Harts Hill Reservation, open space, some shady areas, benches & trash receptacles. You can walk or bike there, or car parking is in the lot beside the park.
Thanks to the Burbank YMCA, Beebe Library, Wakefield Boys and Girls Club, Move2Joy, Sweatfixx, Recreation Department, MA DOT’s Safe Routes to School Program, Sweet Balance, Wake-Up Coalition’s Youth Action Team, Health Department/Mass in Motion, there will be FREE program offerings as well.
