Middlesex Fells StoryWalk™ @ Greenwood Park (Across from Stone Zoo)
Apr 15 – Apr 30 all-day

It’s Spring! by Linda Glaser is our next StoryWalk™. What a great way to combine literature, exercise, and family fun!

It’s Spring! celebrates the coming of spring and all that happens in our natural world during this important season. A child observes the arrival of spring and its effects on plants and animals.

The StoryWalk™ is a collaboration of the Friends of the Middlesex Fells Reservation, MA Department of Conservation and Recreation, Mass in Motion, Medford Family Network and the North Suburban Child and Family Resource Network.

The self-guided walk begins at Greenwood Park, in Stoneham (across from the Stone Zoo), and will continue along the Crystal Springs Trail in an easy, 1/3-mile loop.

Foster your child’s connection with nature as well as their literacy skills by participating in our StoryWalk™ in the Fells!

The StoryWalk™ Project was created by Anne Ferguson of Montpelier, VT and developed in collaboration with the Vermont Bicycle & Pedestrian Coalition and the Kellogg Hubbard Library.

Bicycle Commuter Convoy
May 19 @ 7:00 am – 8:00 am

We will be coordinating a bicycle commuter convoy from Melrose to Boston on the morning of Friday, May 19th.

These rides are well suited for all levels of experience, including anybody who has considered riding their bike to work in Boston in the morning but is concerned about the route or traffic and would like to try it as part of a group first.

This occasion will be part of Boston’s National Bike to Work Day Festival.

We’ll leave at 7:00am from the corner of Foster St and Main St in Melrose (by the YMCA), picking up more people at 7:15am at the intersection of Main St and the Northern Strand Trail in Malden, and more at 7:30 at the McDonald’s on Route 99 at Beacham St in Everett. Finally, we’ll arrive in City Hall Plaza, Boston at around 7:45, joining an end-of-ride festival.

  • To find out more, see the City of Boston page here:
  • If you are willing to help lead the ride, please do two things:
  1. Let me <> know, so that we can coordinate the morning of the event
  2. Let the Boston Bikes folks know, by signing up here: leader sign-up
