Restaurant foods tend to be higher in calories, fat and sodium, and portions are bigger than food prepared at home. But more and more customers are looking for healthier options while dining out.  The Mass in Motion Healthy Dining Program works with local restaurants to make healthy food and drink options available to customers.

Boston Yogurt is the first Wakefield eatery to enter this next phase of the Healthy Dining Program. “We are extremely excited to showcase our Healthy Dining Approved menu options.  Our yogurts are a great source of calcium and protein, are low in cholesterol and saturated fat and they contain live and active cultures that promote a healthy immune and digestive system. All varieties are certified OU-D Kosher and taste great,”said Lisa Urbaczewski of Boston Yogurt.

Pair a ½ cup (4 ounces) of your favorite nonfat, no-sugar-added frozen yogurt flavor, with ½cup (4 ounces) of any fresh fruit topping (strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, pineapple, raspberries) and you have a “Healthy Dining Approved” snack for 130 calories.  Add up to 1 tablespoon of sliced almonds, pecans, or peanuts to that and you have “Healthy Dining Approved” snack for 185 calories.

Now that summer is here, it is a perfect time to bring your family and friends in for a taste! The Mass in Motion Dining Program lists Boston Yogurt, Dockside, Laurie’s 9:09 Gastro-Diner and Phuket as Wakefield participants on their website.  For a full statewide participant list, visit www.mass.gov/massinmotion and search Healthy Dining.
