Go Red! Heart Health Awareness Celebration in Melrose and Wakefield


Go Red for Women, is a  movement, sponsored by the American Heart Association, to bring awareness, education and research to the issue of heart disease and stroke in women.

The Melrose and Wakefield, MA Health Departments celebrated this week with lunch time events for City and Town employees.

Karen Cronin, R.N., B.S.N., Melrose and Wakefield public health nurse, and Kara Showers, MPH, CHES, Mass in Motion-Melrose/Wakefield program coordinator, reached over 50 employees with heart health awareness information, including tobacco cessation, healthy eating recipes, cholesterol levels, etc.  Karen checked over 30 blood pressures.

Hallmark Health System, Inc. provided staff dietitians for Q&A.  Thank you Clinical Nutrition Manager, Jillian Pollock, RD, LDN, Liz Dias, RD, LDN, CDE, and Trissa Therien, RD, LDN!
