(WAKEFIELD, MA) SEPTEMBER 30, 2014…. The Youth Action Team of Wakefield is a group of diverse teens whose main goal along with our community partners, is to promote and sustain a positive and healthy future for Wakefield as a whole. As a part of the Wakefield Unified Prevention Coalition (Wake-Up), “Y.A.T.L.” has created and is now promoting a mini grant available to all organizations, youth groups, businesses and all members of the community of Wakefield.
The mini grant applications and awards are funded by sponsors of the 2014 Youth Health and Safety Guide. These awards will allow winning parties to facilitate a fun, drug-free activity for the teens of Wakefield.
The goal of these activities is to get teens more involved with their community. For example, someone might create day full of activities including sports, healthy eating decisions and teen bonding skills. The winners are based on their creativity and an overall concrete plan. We are interested in funding a broad range of teen-centered healthy topics and activities. The winners of these awards will be given an amount between $250 and $1000, depending on how extensive your activity may be. Projects must be completed by June 30, 2015.
If you would like to pick-up an application for a mini grant, applications will be available for pick up at the Town Hall in the Health Department starting September 25, 2014 or you can access them online at www.wakefieldwakeup.org.
Applications are due by October 30, 2014 and will be reviewed. Decisions will be emailed out, and awardees will be additionally announced on all of the Youth Action Team’s social media. Anyone is welcome to apply for a mini grant, as long as you are planning to host a fun, drug free teen event!
